With the continuing expansion of territory to explore, and the aging of the Hermes Class, the development of a new Scout class vessel led to the launch of the Wendt Class.
The Wendt Class is able to maintain a sustained high warp speed better then most other classes of starship currently in service (only beat by the ever faithful Pheidippides Class, after their latest refit) giving them the extended range necessary to reach unexplored regions. State of the art stellar cartography equipment and the latest in sensor technology make this class especially suited to their mission.
